In this latest issue of Arc Poetry Magazine, some of Canada’s most established poets—award-winners, editors, creative writing teachers, and mentors among them—introduce up-and-coming poets that you’ll want to watch. Find out what writers such as John Barton, Medrie Purdham, and Priscila Uppal have to say about Ben Ladouceur, Cassidy McFadzean, and Leigh Nash—just some of the emerging talents you’ll read about in Arc 73.

The winter 2014 issue also features a selection of new work by acclaimed poet Tim Bowling, Arc’s Poet-in-Residence for 2012–2013. Russell Thornton offers a review of Tim’s work by way of introduction, and Tim’s confession of how much his work draws on that very simple/utterly complex notion of love will come as no surprise to anyone who has read the work of this remarkable Canadian poet over the past two decades. Rounding out our Poet-in-Residence feature is a selection of work by eight poets who Tim mentored over the past year.

Other, not-be-missed highlights from Arc 73 include:

• the latest reviews, which also concentrate on emerging talents, focusing on first books;
• excerpts from a graphic-novel-in-poetry by Anita Lahey and Pauline Conley;
• poems by Louise Halfe, Sandra Ridley, Paul Vermeersch, and Leslie Vyrenhoek; and
• innovative collages and full-colour artwork by visual artist Kristiina Lahde.
