Arc in Transition

Arc Poetry Society, the publisher of Arc Poetry Magazine, is sad to announce the departure of Monty Reid from his role as Managing Editor. After six strong years, Monty is stepping aside to focus on his writing and other projects. The entire Arc Poetry Society board and editorial team wish Monty all the luck and prosperity he deserves. His last day as Managing Editor was December 31st, 2017. Over the last six years Monty has implemented features such as the recent translation feature, continued popular partnerships with VERSeFest and the Ottawa International Writers Festival, and seen Arc Poetry Magazine win gold medals from the National Magazine Awards, among other successes. Whatever his next projects may be, we know that Monty’s talents will continue to shine with poetry and professionalism.

After some restructuring of roles and responsibilities, Arc’s Coordinating Editor, Chris Johnson will be transitioning into a newly defined role of Managing Editor. We’re excited to see what new energy and ideas he will bring with this next step in his professional career in magazine publishing.

Furthermore, we are very excited to announce the engagement of a new Operations Officer. Starting in January, James K. Moran stepped into this new position overseeing the financial stability and well-being of Arc Poetry Society. A popular writer of horror and speculative fiction, a poet, and former Director of the Tree Reading Series, we know that James’ experience and enthusiasm will ensure that Arc continues to operate successfully as Canada’s poetry magazine. We’re looking forward to many great issues of Arc Poetry Magazine, and continued Arc programming initiatives, with James and Chris in these new roles.
