Jennifer Bowering Delisle for the poem “On the First Day of Spring”!
Nancy Jo Cullen and the Arc Poetry Magazine Board also selected one honourable mention:
On the First Day of Spring
I’m taking down Christmas lights
though it snowed all morning. The tree
will soon rouse dormant buds
though last year’s elliptic apples cling,
red gizzards of the winter’s carving.
This is how these days are—
the both, the yes but, this and
the thaw and the grass’s rusted blade
the news and the poem
the apples and the mouths
