The February prompt is: “PATTERN”

“There is no poetry without pattern. But pattern is more than a formal, structural element of a poem. Patterns also abound in nature and in our social and political arrangements. One role of the poet is to make those patterns visible and audible— to analyze or challenge them, to honour and celebrate them.

Send us your pattern-rich and pattern-preoccupied poems. How do you pattern your poetry to echo, reinforce, or explode the structures that pattern your world?”

Evergreen trees surround a body of water, which is frozen over with ice that has patterns on it: some circles/large bubbles, and some star-like shapes that resemble the top-down view of an evergreen tree. There are mossy rocks in the foreground.
