Arc Poetry Magazine 91: Arc’s Spring 2020 Issue

While the world quests to slow our transmission of COVID-19, Arc is here to help you endure—with new poetry, essays, and reviews.

The pages of Arc 91 contain the latest Diana Brebner Prize-winning poem, a new How Poems Work feature, tons of poetry from our 2018/2019 Poet-in-Residence, plus so much more!

We planned to launch this issue at Ottawa’s VERSeFest on March 26th, but public safety and our collective need to flatten the curve during this global pandemic meant that the festival had to be postponed. Keep an eye on VERSeFest’s website and social media for the rescheduled festival.

Magazines Canada has also put all of their retail distribution on hiatus, since most stores are closed for the time-being. If you regularly pick up your copy of Arc at a newsstand or your local bookstore, consider ordering a copy directly from us (and we hope you will still support your local businesses if you can, for example by purchasing giftcards to use when stores have reopened).

However you get it, here’s what you can look forward to in Arc’s newest issue:

  • an extended feature on Adèle Barclay’s tenure as Arc’s Poet-in-Residence;
  • Laurie D. Graham and John Elizabeth Stintzi’s essays on the place of poetry;
  • stunning translations of work by Montréal poet and novelist Huguette Gaulin (1944 – 1972);
  • new poems from Madhur Anand, Alyda Faber, D.A. Lockhart and Téa Mutonji, among others; and,
  • stunning visual art from Canadian photo-based artist Whitney Lewis-Smith.

NOTE: retail and newsstand distribution for Arc is done by Magazines Canada, and is on hiatus at this time; the new issue is only available directly from Arc until further notice.
