Earlier this year, we at Arc Poetry Magazine were distressed to learn that we had unwittingly published work by the convicted killer of Pamela Jean George. We were distressed to see that anyone might conceive of continuing to give her killer’s words a platform, in the context of an event that purports to be aimed at truth and reconciliation, in the city where George was murdered, to an audience who received only partial justice due to institutional prejudice.
As a literary magazine, our foundational purpose is to give writers space and an audience for their voice.
We will continue to seek and accept regular essay and poetry submissions from Indigenous writers, and we are also extending a call for submissions exclusively to Indigenous writers for works responding to issues surrounding MMIWG or other related issues within Canadian poetry, to appear in Issue # 92, Summer 2020.
Published work will be paid $50 CAD per print page. Please send submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
