Follow the lanterns to Arc Poetry Magazine’s 2017 Poem of the Year contest winner

Out of a stellar shortlist of poems, we are glad to announce that Kayla Czaga’s “Harvest Moon Lantern Festival” has won Arc Poetry Magazine’s 2017 Poem of the Year contest, and Blair Trewartha’s “Breach” has been named the Honourable Mention. After a close vote, Phillip Crymble’s “Biography of a Story” came out on top as the Readers’ Choice. Arc would also like to congratulate the rest of the poets on the shortlist.

This summer issue of Arc Poetry Magazine also contains illuminating poems from Jennifer Film, Cassidy McFadzean, and Heather Cadsby, as well as:

  • Rhonda Douglas in conversation with the emerging Ottawa poet Karen Massey;
  • a lovely exploration of how David McFadden’s “Il Vecchio Is Our Love” works;
  • Bardia Sinaee’s killer review of Jan Zwicky and Nyla Matuk newest collections; and,
  • new and recent portraiture and other artwork from Montreal’s Andrew Moncrief.
Celebrate the winners and shortlisted poets from Arc’s 2017 Poem of the Year contest by subscribing or picking up a copy of Arc Poetry Magazine 83 at a magazine stand or bookstore near you.
